I just adore your style and your character design. I always struggle with making varied characters (in terms of body shapes etc) any tips? (I do figure drawing as and when I can and I try to observe but I seem to just get this mental block with variation)

aaah wow thank you!!  LET’SS SEEE, I TOO STRUGGLE WITH VARIATION AS WELL but one thing i found that really helped me was just…BEING REALLY LOOSE, everyone says that but no really just try it when you are drawing from life dont pain stakingly render every line to make it look like a realistic drawing (unless that is what youre goin for BUT OTHAWISE) just let it flow and try not to worry so much? when you look at people to draw exaggerate their features as best you can? it’s really hard to make everyone look right but even if you don’t get their face down you will have drawn SOMEONE, like congratulations you just drew a new person kind of so hey. i do this sort of thing a lot where i’ll repeatedly draw the same person over and over again but try to figure out what about them really makes them look like them…i’ll draw like a normalish version of them at first and then try to draw other ones where i push certain parts that really ‘define’ their face/body and these are the types of things that you can use later in your character design… the more you do it the more you’ll develop a mental library of body shapes and sizes that you can remember and use again in your other work. caricaturing celebrities is probably a really good exercise as well if you want to give that a shot? hope that helpssss a little???
